Since the Roman occupation of Mértola, there are records of the production of honey, which is much appreciated as it results from the combination of a unique climate and flora.
A family dedicated to beekeeping since 1945 and operating the oldest rosemary honey producer in Mértola. The rosemary honey from Mértola is considered one of the best and most prestigious in Portugal, recognized nationally and internationally, with a light color and an intense honeycomb flavor.
The quality comes from the hives located in the heart of the Guadiana Valley Natural Park, where the bees begin to collect, from February onwards, the delicious nectar from the rosemary flowers and deposit it in the combs inside the hives.
